What is Apprenticeship?

If you are looking for a job or training then one of the options you might wish to consider is an Apprenticeship. As an apprentice you'll work alongside experienced staff, gain sector specific skills and earn a wage. Apprenticeships are available for anyone aged 16 or over and, depending on the level of study, take anywhere between 1 and 4 years to complete.


Level of Study

There are three levels of study for Apprenticeships: Intermediate, Advanced and Higher. See below for their equivalent educational levels:

Name Level Equivalent educational level
Intermediate 2 5 GCSE passes at grades A* to C
Advanced 3 2 A level passes
Higher 4,5,6 & 7 Foundation degree and above
