Land Train Driver/Conductor – 2 roles available

About the role:

We are recruiting! Nottingham Castle Land Train is the first and last stop in the delivery of a world
class experience, welcoming many of the visitors to the Castle. We are looking for two enthusiastic
people to share the driving and conducting duties on our new Land Train. You will be responsible for
advising visitors about the Castle’s history and visitor offer, additional tours and the retail range. Both
roles will play an active part in the delivery of the visitor services and operational activities, helping to
achieve KPI targets and deliver a consistently gold standard of customer service.
As the first contact with visitors, you will ensure a warm and friendly visitor welcome and actively
promote all activities and events through a thorough knowledge of Nottingham Castle.


30 per week, Thursday to Sunday with the possibility of additional hours/days during busier

Knowledge required:

• Ability, understanding and confidence to verbally communicate effectively
• Reasonable knowledge of Nottingham and the area
• Full clean driving licence required and PSV Category D licence
• Minimum age requirement for insurance purposes – 25 years


• Working in a busy, customer facing environment
• Previous experience of driving a land train is desirable


• A sound understanding of customer service principles, and experience of working within a
team to deliver superb standards to a diverse audience
• Excellent listening and communication skills
• Robust, positive and enthusiastic about working with the public
• Enthusiasm for the Trust’s aims and its independence, and an interest in the Trust’s work
• Ability to represent an organisation clearly and compellingly to different audiences
• Integrity
• Ability to work effectively with colleagues and support a working environment which

• Ability to work flexibly, including working on Bank Holidays and Weekends
