Job Description

About the employer:

Nottingham City Council are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and we are striving to have a reflective workforce of the citizens we serve. As a result of our commitment, we anonymise all applications to remove the risk of unconscious bias. The application process will capture your personal details (including your name) and these details will only be made visible to recruiting managers once the shortlisting stage has been completed.

About the role:

Nottingham City Council is seeking experienced social workers who are ready to take the next step in their social work career and step into a senior practitioner role in a busy children’s assessment service.  You will need to be ambitious for children and their families, organised, determined and energetic, but also reflective and empathic. In Nottingham City we have high levels of need and deprivation and our teams of frontline practitioners are focussed on supporting each other as well as supporting the families who receive our services. We work in partnership with relevant agencies and families to achieve good outcomes for children. Nottingham is an early intervention city and we have invested in the use of therapeutic, multi-systemic approaches to work with families to achieve long lasting change and support frontline social work practice.
As a Senior Practitioner you will work closely with the Team Manager to mentor and support less experienced workers, to drive performance and maintain a culture of continuous improvement as well as holding a small caseload of complex work.
You will bring a diverse range of skills and are able to demonstrate a flexible approach and clear understanding of child safeguarding. We are seeking someone who can work with partner agencies, internal partners and families to achieve positive change for children and their families.
