About the role:

Fleet services have three workshops over two main operational depots. These workshops allow trained and experienced vehicle mechanics to provide service, maintenance and repair support to the diverse range of vehicles on the fleet including electric vehicles.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team to train and learn extensive programme of vehicle maintenance, repair, inspection and examination that is required. They will work to ensure competency and skill is obtained to ensure compliance with statutory legislation, the legal requirements of the Council’s vehicle Operators Licence, DVSa requirements and internal Council policies and procedures.

Other functions within the service are Fleet Management (which is classed as vehicle and driver management) and can include a range of functions, such as vehicle procurement, leasing and financing, licensing and compliance and accident management, vehicle telematics (tracking and diagnostics), driver management, speed management, fuel management, health and safety management, and vehicle re-marketing. Fleet Management is a function which allows organisations like Nottingham City Council which rely on fleet operations in the organisation to remove or minimise risks associated with vehicle investment, improving efficiency, productivity and reducing the overall fleet operations costs, and providing 100% compliance with government legislation (duty of care) and many more.
