PLEASE NOTE – at the end of the 7 months candidates will qualify for an automatic interview for any permanent posts over Domestic waste, Trade waste and Street Scene
The starting salary is £21,189 (Level One) rising to £21,575 (Level Two) on the first year anniversary, subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period (pro rata for part time workers).

About the role:
Nottingham City Council is looking for Public Realm Operatives to collect household waste bins. This will primarily be garden waste but also recycling and residual bins when required. Operatives are required to provide a range of gardening, refuse, recycling, grounds maintenance and cleansing duties throughout the City and to be flexible depending on the service needs. We operate a full garden waste collection service between April – September. The collections are then reduced by 50%, 2 weeks in October and 2 weeks in November.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Be able to work flexible hours on an annualised hours basis. Work longer or shorter hours throughout different weeks across numerous working patterns. This also includes weekend working to cover bank holiday including Good Friday.
- The role requires applicants to be physically fit and be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Applicants must have good understanding / knowledge of working in a customer focused environment and have customer care skills to deal with citizens of Nottingham on a daily basis.
