We’re looking for committed and enthusiastic people to join our Sport and Leisure department 

Working within Leisure Centres across the city – You will be required to undertake a swimming test.

Principal duties and responsibilities

  1. To undertake a development programme leading to an Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) recognised Level 2 apprenticeship qualification
  2. To actively participate in your own development plan which will be agreed with the line manager and the assessor from the training provider
  3. To undertake study towards functional skills qualifications in English, Maths and/or IT, where applicable
  4. To achieve personal appraisal targets, as agreed by your line manager
  5. As directed, undertake a work programme to develop practical skills and knowledge of centre attendant duties including:
  • Assisting with maintaining a high standard of cleanliness by checking and cleaning on a regular basis
  • Acting as a point of contact for citizens and customers
  • Assisting with controlling access to, and proper use of, the pool and other facilities/ equipment
  • Assisting with setting up, breaking down and storing equipment as necessary, within manual handling guidelines
  1. To develop the general skills, attributes and behaviours required to make you “work ready” and to prepare you for a role in your chosen area of work. (eg communication, organisation and time management skills)
  2. To take part in meetings, supervision, training and other events to assist with your development, as requested by your manager
  3. To undertake any other duties in line with your grade and capabilities, as required
  4.  You must be able to swim

The salaries for these posts start on National Minimum Wage. Your overall annual salary will be:

16-17 = £8,392.39 (£4.35ph)

18-20 = £11,865.11 (£6.15ph)

21 and over = £14,855.50 (£7.70ph)

Only after 12 months of service will salaries for over 25 year old apprentices rise to £15,839.44 (£8.21ph)

Our apprenticeships will be located across the city, are fixed term for a minimum of 13 months and are full time (37 hours per week). You will study a nationally recognised qualification at Level 2 in the subject relevant to the job.
