We’re looking for committed and enthusiastic people to join us. 

Principal duties and responsibilities

  1. To support in the preparation of foods, including vegetables, salads, sandwiches, sauces, fresh and frozen items, snack preparation and sweet items.
  2. Assist with the cooking and finishing of all food items, ensuring all food items are probed and temperatures recorded.
  3. To ensure all NCC policies and procedures are adhered to with regards to temperature controls, cleaning and food delivery and storage.
  4. To actively ensure compliance with Health & Hygiene Legislations and Health & Safety Regulations.
  5. To assist with the setting up of all service counters, serve food according to the type of service used and clear, clean and tidy service areas after service.
  6. To support in the preparation and cleaning of any dining areas used.
  7. To wash cooking equipment, serving utensils, crockery & cutlery.
  8. To assist in the cleaning of all areas including the service counters, café and kitchen area to the required standard and to ensure all documentation is completed. Any other areas as requested by the Catering Manager.
  9. To be professional and well-presented whilst providing excellent customer care at all times.
  10. Cash handling and use of tills as appropriate.
  11. To provide assistance with special functions / hospitality as required.
  12. Barista Training to be on going.
  13. To support colleagues within the service with any other duties as directed.

The salaries for these posts start on National Minimum Wage. Your overall annual salary will be:

16-17 = £8,392.39 (£4.35ph)

18-20 = £11,865.11 (£6.15ph)

21 and over = £14,855.50 (£7.70ph)

Only after 12 months of service will salaries for over 25 year old apprentices rise to £15,839.44 (£8.21ph)

Our apprenticeships will be located across the city, are fixed term for a minimum of 13 months and are full time (37 hours per week). You will study a nationally recognised qualification at Level 2 in the subject relevant to the job.

Functional Skills will take place on Monday 25th November 2019

If you are already qualified to level 2 or above in maths and English please bring evidence of this to the assessment day e.g. GCSE certificates.
