Do you want to work for the best Housing Organisation in the UK? Are you looking for a way into a career within Social Housing, or perhaps looking for an opportunity to change careers? If so, this role could be for you.

Nottingham City Homes has been awarded Landlord of the Year at the 2018 UK Housing Award and manages more than 27,000 homes across the city on behalf of Nottingham City Council. Our vision is to "create homes and places where people want to live". All of our homes have reached the decent homes standard and, as part of our "Building a better Nottingham" programme, we are building hundreds of new council homes - the biggest programme of its kind for a generation.
At Nottingham City Homes, we offer an excellent benefits package with a minimum of 25 days holiday, flexible working, training and personal development, an additional holiday purchase scheme, lifestyle benefits, childcare vouchers and a defined pension scheme (company contribution on average is 16%).

Nottingham City Homes have created a number of exciting new apprentice positions within the housing sector of the business. The successful candidates will gain an insight into what is needed to work in the housing sector by undertaking a Housing / Property Management Level 2 apprenticeship, incorporating a CIH Level 2 in Housing Practice qualification, whilst carrying out work within our Rents team. Whilst with us in this career development role, you will develop a range of skills and knowledge to support the delivery of the Income Management Service, working with other public services and partners to ensure that the needs of tenants and communities are met.

Duties of this varied and challenging role will include:

  • Provide support and assistance to customers regarding rent arrears and welfare benefits.
  • Contribution to the sustainment of tenancies by providing support and advice to vulnerable tenants or those identified with a support need; and referral to specialist agencies where appropriate.
  • Working closely with partner agencies and support services both internally and externally to resolve issues
  • Contribution to the management of rent accounts and former rent accounts
  • Help the service to reduce debts and meet targets in all areas of current and former debt owed.
  • A range of administrative duties to support the delivery of services.

In turn, we are looking for the following experience and skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively face to face with colleagues and customers
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to a high quality customer service
  • Ability to demonstrate good work ethics, including time keeping and punctuality
  • Ability to develop good working relationships and use initiative.

We are looking for candidates with the drive to learn new skills, offer excellent customer service and make a difference to Nottingham City Homes tenants across the City - this is a challenging role but the rewards in terms of fulfilment and development are high and you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that your contribution really matters as everyone needs somewhere safe, decent and affordable to live.

In return, we will offer you a wide range of employee benefits (more information can be found here) as well as a generous salary, considerably higher than the basic Apprentice wage paid by many other organisations.

Please note: successful candidates may be required to attend college one day per week in order to gain the Housing / Property Management Level 2 Apprenticeship.
