This 6 week course is a great introduction to sign language.
Start: 27th January 2021
End: 10th March 2021
Course contents are:
• Introduce BSL as language
• How to fingerspell
• Introduce family signs, i.e. mother, father, sister, brother, friend etc.
• Introduce and practice using signed numbers and quantities
• Basic deaf awareness
• Basic signed conversations including above topics and vocabulary
This course is free to those unemployed and in receipt of a means tested benefit. To be eligible for funding you must be 19 or over and have lived in the UK or EU for the last 3 years as of August 1st 2019. Otherwise course fees are £67.50
There are no entry requirements, however you must have a good standard of written and spoken English.
Tutors will give regular verbal and written feedback. You will be required to complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and encouraged to set your own personal targets as part of this course.
There may be opportunities to progress onto other courses both in the community and at Nottingham College sites.
