Job Description

About the employer:

Nottingham City Council is known for inclusivity and innovation, and we are continually working around the clock to deliver services for Nottingham’s citizens, visitors and investors. Our aspiration is to make Nottingham a Great City, but to do this we need to be a Great Council, provide Great Services and recruit and develop a Great Workforce.

About the role:

The Whole Life Disability Occupational Therapy team supports disabled children and young people from childhood through to adulthood, with a focus on increasing function and independence through the provision of equipment and adaptations. Occupational Therapists are responsible for the accurate, holistic and person centred assessment of disabled children, young people and adults; establishing what is important to them and agreeing outcomes based on a personalised, sensitive and proportionate approach.  This also requires creating and implementing culturally appropriate care plans that demonstrate flexibility and innovative use of resources.

Work is undertaken within the current legislative framework at all times, and in partnership with internal and external partners/agencies. There is also an expectation that Occupational Therapists at all levels will maintain and produce professional case records and reports which are structured, clear, evidence based and logical, in accordance with the Department’s case recording standards and practice. In addition, they should make best use of the Department’s electronic information systems, inputting new information as required in a timely and accurate manner.

The team includes Occupational Therapists working across four levels depending on their experience, and case complexity is reflected in this. Occupational Therapists at all levels will be expected to carry a full caseload of multifaceted cases, with contribution towards child review meetings and safeguarding meetings required.

Additional training on moving and handling and postural management assessment is provided if necessary.
