About the role:

In this role you will work in the small and friendly team dedicated to working in the Council’s cemeteries in Redhill, Carlton and Gedling. Your main duty will be digging graves and you will use appropriate plant and machinery but hand digging in clay and sand will be required; in addition you will be responsible for tending to the cemetery gardens including grass cutting, strimming, pruning, litter picking and toilet cleaning.

You must have previous experience of working in grounds maintenance and it is essential that you are comfortable working in the cemetery environment and that you appreciate the physically demanding nature of the role which involves working in all weathers to a tight timescale. You will also need to be confident, polite and professional to be able to respond positively to customer enquiries or complaints. You will be an ambassador of the Council so it is essential that you can deliver high standards of customer care. Previous experience of cemetery work will be an advantage but is not essential for someone with the right attitude.

Hours of work:

37 plus two hours contractual overtime
